Conservative Treatment

All non surgical treatment options are summarized under conservative treatment. During physiotherapy, reinforcement of the trunk muscles is done after limbering up. Administration of pain medication and physical therapy like medical baths and fango therapy is supportive. If no clinical success is evident, even after a long period, then, according to the philosophy of phased therapy, specific injection into the pain-causing regions of the spine are initiated. Transforaminal PDA (Peri Dural Analgesia) and facet joint injection and discography are then performed in order to relieve the back ache. For safety reasons, these interventions are routinely carried out within the scope of an inpatient treatment. If this step also fails to cure the ailment then the reasonability of surgical therapy has to be evaluated. At this juncture, the information collected during the conservative therapy phase is utilized for the planning of the surgical procedure.
